    Default Audiophile 2496 or E-mu 0404????

Which is better? A used (2years old) Audiophile 2496 or a new E-mu 0404 for the same price???

    Which has better sound quality?
Looking at the specs the 0404 is better but that doesn't mean it has better converters (sound). And i heard the 0404 now has 192khz support from a driver upgrade.

Any advice or recommendations welcome. :)

Audiophile does sound remarkably good. Can't comment on the other.

Yeah I dunno.. I trust EMU... I don't trust Creative Labs.
Sad part is Creative Labs bought EMU...

    Who do we trust now?

Personally I have an Audiophile for my 2 track main mix recording and love it.

I don't need on board DSP. If I got the 0404 I wouldn't use it's onboard DSP, so thats not an issue.

I'm just interested in plain stereo out sound quality.

The only reason I'd advise against emu is my mate bought a card and the driver cd was the wrong one. He downloaded the one off the site they told him to (not easy as he doesn't have the internet) and lo, it didn't work. Maybe a dodgy batch or whatever but either way the net result is its beena few weeks and still no working soundcard. I believe a refund is on the cards, which is a shame really
