Should I delete my old tracks?

No way I say keep em, last tune I did I ended up using loads ofstuff I had created before but abandoned coz it was shit in its first guise....

Which is worse....

I sometimes get annoyed with the huge boxes of archived work I have - but then I can bring back every track I've ever written and the original files, samples and recorded tracks and re-do it or sample it or....

Before you delete any of your tracks make sure you have them on cd at least!

Backup the data and mixdown some audio copies of them, that way it's always handy sampling material if your ever stuck for ideas.

One of my old favourite tricks was to sample a drum loop off my TR606 then play it back at 1/2 speed (an octave down) to get some interesting effects/sounds. You could do this with some of your old stuff!

i'd make sure to back up the samples at least, but get rid, i'd say

You should always keep all creative work you've done be it music, dj sets, artwork, graphic design work.

You can go back to it later for reference and in the future you will probably hear or see something in some of them you didn't before.

DONT delete anything you have produced ya nutta, you may not like them NOW, but its always good to see where you come from a few years later, so save em on disc and store them with the big pile of star wars figures you have been collecting for 15 years ;)

I feel unable to use a lot of past good ideas because they exist on my hard drive already. If I send them back ionto the ether I feel it my free up my creativity again. It's not a storage issue but a matter of letting go of things past.
