hose who can get their mates to vote for them would prolly be able to get their mates to BUY the records.
    I doubt it.
They would all expect freebies for voting.

Not to mention some of them may not even be into buying records or techno at all?

So no I don't think votes translates to sales.

im not even in this competition and i can see how unfair, and basically void, this competition has become.... no offence to Alex Long (whoever he maybe) but its quite obvious that you've simply gotten all ur friends to log on and vote, and like i said no offence but ur remixes are not the most worthy in those packs... if the final mixes are chosen on the basis of these results then i hope the label realise how unfair its been to the rest of the people in the comp and i dont blame dirty bass for pulling out

as far as i was aware the aim of the competition wasnt to sell records but to give some of the superb up n coming producers on here and around the techno community the chance to show what they can do and earn themselves a well deserved release.... it certainly wasnt to see how many mates u can to vote online for u

    need's sorting out id say
    upcoming releases : Templ8r 1, Advanced 025, Humanoid 7, Emetic 013 - www.djscottgray.co.uk

right said again, I agree with all of you, i am not saying that I have to win or something, but as a voting system it could be a bit better, at the moment I don't have any ideas how it could be but I am sure there is another way ;)

here we go with the original e-mail send to all artists.

    Dear Artists

Finally the remix-competition is over now. We have got about 80 various remixes of you. Thanks a lot.

There are a lot of very, very good mixes included and in case of this we (Label and Manuel) did a pre- selection first of all. During the February we will upload the favorite tunes to the servers. We will post the links to www.giantanddwarf.com www.blackoutaudio.co.uk http://usb.unitedsb.de/index.php and the users will be able to vote the best mixes of the pre-selected ones during the whole march.
We will combine the results of all three homepage voting then. The votes of the peoples are 50% of the result strong. The other 50% will be added by Manuel Fuentes and the Label side. Total winners will be published in April then. We wish you all good luck for the competition. Thanks again for the high quality output.
    R.E.S.P.E.C.T.

I think it is a fair deal to give 50% of the voices to the people out there.
And if there are some with more friends than the others it is o.k.
this are the rules and i don´t like to change them in the middle of the competition.

I remember reading that about 50 vites were coming in every day.
    Those figures don`t reflect this.

    I pulled out mate.
I think the voting system is open for abuse, so I started a thread about it, and pulled out, so that I was impartial to the situation.
And crazy x ray jumped up and down about it.
I think this should go to an unsigned person, whatever the outcome, for me, this was a bit of fun, but some of the people in this comp, deserve the chance to release.

    wise decision, Dirty Bass.
    there's a reason i don't like competions, be i track - or dj-wise.
there's almost always a foul flavour attached to it. i myself would have checked that out myself in mr. x-ray's place before posting results that are screaming 'fraud'.

lets leave it at that, lesson learnt.

    ;)

so it's basically down to self promotion and friend votes rather than the merit of the remix.
