Default Green Velvet - La La Land Promo

    Hi,

I'm new on here. Just wanted to see what people thought of this:

    http://www.discogs.com/release/1216279

I really love this track - I just wish I could afford the pricetag! Would be amazing to own this though! Anyone ever bought anything of Discogs? What are the sellers generally like?

    Thanks!

Hello and welcome to BOA! :)

Classic track that, although I've never seen that release before. Looks rare! I've bought loads of records from Discogs with no problems at all. It's pretty good for buying and selling.

discogs is good for hunting down tracks youve been after for years.most of the time youl have to pay an arm and a leg though.

if you're gonna buy la la land buy this one http://www.discogs.com/release/19212

some of the prices on there are silly. The release you linked there isn't moderated either, so I would'nt be too sure its as rare as they are making out

    Thanks for your replies.

I understand that I could get a vinyl one for a lot less but this is an acetate.

Aren't they generally the original pressings?

yeah but if you plan to play it out it won't last 5 minutes

That's true, I know acetates wear out after a few plays - I was thinking more for collectability really! I'm seriously tempted by it though!

its the repress on Credence. So its just the acetate (so they claim) of a repress of a widely available track, that had better mixes the first time it came out. I'd save your hundred quid

my word, what a complete rip off

you play an acetate a few times and you wont be able to play it much more, so collectibility goes out the window straight away. I'd steer clear, hunt down an original pressing with the Dave Clarke mix on, if i could find mine i'd send you it for free if it meant someone didnt lose over £100 on a very widely available record

safe as f*ck. good lad scott. i agree with the lads, £100 buckaroons is a lot of cash to give for that. Have a scavenge around and see if you can get the non acetate version.
If you are just collecting it though and you do have the cash to splash go for it, but think about how much it may or may not go up in value.

Thanks for your help everyone who responded. The seller obviously knew they where ripping buyers off - I messaged them a link to this thread and they dropped the price straight today by the looks of it - still expensive though! Thanks again for your advice.

Thanks everyone for your advice regarding this! I messaged the seller of this yesterday and they have lowered the price (only by £25 though) so I guess they must have known it was a bit of a rip off! Thanks again for your help.
