    Default The Monastery, Torquay.

The Monastery Club was owned by Don Lane. His daughter Sally managed the DJ's, etc. on the night. Mark EG played a number of times, as he will no doubt remember! It was undoubtedly the most friendly atmosphere at any club we have ever been to. We used to go most weeks. Don & his wife Barbara became, and still are, personal friends of ours. Tragically, the Torquay police put on a full scale drugs bust whilst the club was still open at around 6am one Sunday. It was in November 2002 as far as I can remember. Immediately, the council revoked the licence, so the club had to close, and will never reopen. It is sadly missed.......................................

    Default Monastry, Torquay

Yes, we were at the Billy Nasty night too. It was never really a techno club(mainly hard house & trance), but it was us that suggested William to the promoters, and happily they agreed to book him.

There was no booze because the Monastry was formerly a church, and there was a covenent on the lease to disallow the sale of alcohol.
