Been using the Alesis ones for a year now and they are sweet. But a couple of considerations bout the space you place them in....

Dont put these f**kers in a corner or put them near a wall, youll get migraines. I know it goes without saying but I learnt the hard way and now my right ear pops randomly like on a bad flight

i"ve got them thanks for pointing this out neilried.. this is ****in true placing near walls or corners can make some migraine... it's muddy as hell when placed near wall. i had to totally remove the room furniture,.. and it sounds.... sweet, now.. now let's see what i can do with these bombs.....

Thats sounds a bit severe!!! Mine are still sitting near the wall but if you block the bottom port on both of them it mutes a real low frequency range which partially compensates the bass overload if your unable to move them about...

To block the ports try using squash balls, they are firm enough work effectivley easy to put in and remove (so long as you dont push em in to far) and look way nicer than a screwed up sock (though that works aswell...)

Hope they bring u as much fun as mine have....

i say buy them cause i had them for about 5 years. but after buying mackie 824's i now realise that there was a big prob with the m1's making my ears tired easily. if i'd give any advice to using m1's it's to make sure you don't play tooo loud. ii mean REALLY don't do it. i know it's tempting but please please dont. the mix goes all wrong after 10 hours of 120db's hehehe.

best thing is get one of the pressure things from tandy and keep it below a 100db threshold.

serious though, look at the krk's. i've now heard top range krk's in ppl's studios and slightly wish i'd bought them instead of the 824's. mind you i do love my 824s.

the M1s seem quite warm and smooth, maybe that's why it seems comfortable to have them loud, which will lead to tired ears !

ive had the alesis for just under 2 years and theyve been a good monitor, although also my first pair of monitors.

the only problems ive had is the bottom end usually being a bit unaccurate.

But for the price id say there a good monitor in there range.
