emotion, have you got yours close to a wall or not ?
they seem to give better bass response when placed within a foot or so of a wall

I love my M1's and have had a pair since 2000. I do agree with everyone who posted about the volumes though. They get really ****ing loud. Currently, I have my volume knobs on the back of each speaker sitting at just over "1" and they are still loud as hell if I bump up the volume on my pre-amp mixer.
