Oliver Ho (Meta, Blueprint, Drumcode)
Â*
For our May event, Locked would like to welcome one of the UK’s most respected techno producers, Oliver Ho.
Â*
Growing up in the West London area, Oliver found himself surrounded by music at an early age with some of his earlier interests including early industrial and electronic music legends such as Brian Eno and Coil. After being exposed to the early Warp recordings by artists such as The Aphex Twin, Oliver - armed with a Roland sampler, sequencer and drum machine - began making electronic music, finally producing his first track in 1995. This caught the attention of James Ruskin, a fellow hard techno Dj and producer, also hailing from the London area who asked Oliver to contribute some of his tracks to be released through his own Blueprint label. The rest, as they say, is history and throughout the late 1990’s Oliver churned out a prolific output of releases, capitalising on his rising popularity through his own Meta imprint, whilst starting another label in 1999, Light and Dark.
Â*
Since his first releases Oliver has established himself as one of the global techno scene’s most talented artists, releasing records on big-name labels like Sweden’s Drumcode and Richard Polson's Surface and effectively becoming a ‘superstar Dj’ in techno-friendly countries like Germany and Japan. His own Meta and Light and Dark imprints continue to develop a personal and individual vision of techno and his frequent Dj appearanceÂ*have enabled Oliver to take his complex textural rhythms directly into the clubs, with his powerful performance enhanced further by live drum machine programming and sampler interaction.

Dj Godfather (Databass, Detroit)
Â*
Dj Godfather has been involved with music since his high school years. In his time, he has developed into one of Detroit’s leading performance Djs, able to hold a crowd on the floor with his infectious music whilst at the same time blowing their minds with his unparalleled Dj skills. Not content with making jaws drop just be spinning records, he’s also been producing records for over 8 years.
Â*
Back in 1996 there was a frontier spirit in Detroit. The techno thing had been done to death or the artists were so focused on Europe that Detroit was left behind. What was left was all the music that was dirty and funky, such as electro, jungle, ghetto-house and Miami bass. Out of this eclectic mix, Dj Godfather, along with close friend Dj Assault, almost single handedly came up with a new style of electronic music, practically inventing the sleazy, electro edged ghetto-tech sound that is well known today with their respective labels and Dj styles. Through his label, Twilight 76, Dj Godfather took this style of music, now ubiquitous on Detroit mix shows, and forged it into a production style that defines the ghetto-tech sound, making him one of the first artists in Detroit to produce records specifically for this crowd.
Â*
Following this came the non-stop Dj gigs. His widely acclaimed releases (such as Player Haters in This House) and mix CD’s took him around the world from the tropics of Puerto Rico to Sonar 99 with Ectomorph, from the grittiest of Detroit warehouses to the most glamorous clubs of Vienna. Equally at home in his own state of the art 40 track studio, Dj Godfather has taken his love of music production to a new level by producing his own hip hop group ‘Players Only’ and working closely with avant-garde electro legends, Ectomorph, with whom he also tours with as Dj support. He continues to move into new territories and sounds, constantly evolving his signature techno and electro edged booty sound taking electronic music to a new level.
