Default Ben Sims & Paul Mac @ Electric City / May 19th

    Thursday May 19th

Class of '88 - A Night of House and Acid Classics:

    Ben Sims [Theory - London]
    Paul Mac [Stimulus - London]
    Tony Anderson [Serenity - London]

    ***Doors 10.30

Stand Attention! This Thursday sees us go back to the Class of '88 with a
night of wicked acid, house and techno from the vaults of Ben Sims and Paul
Mac. This will be a night featuring the cream of classics, both known and
forgotten, from the likes of Tyree Cooper, Bam Bam, Derrick May, Nu Groove,
Westbrook, James Jack Rabbit, Trax, Farley Jackmaster Funk, Steve Poindexter
and many more jams from the Summer of Love!

Principal Sims is one of the biggest DJs in the world over recent years and
this will be his second visit to Electric City. Last year, he fired the club
up with a dynamic set of cracking techno mixed to perfection. Since
establishing Theory Recordings towards the end of 1997, London-based DJ /
producer Ben Sims has undergone a swift rise to prominence within the global
dance music community. His globally extensive DJ'ing performances have
earned him a ranking amongst the world's top techno spinners, many of whom
have fully embraced his studio production work and Jeff Mills who asked him
to remix Alarms on Axis - one of the few remixes of Mills's work. This set
will see him showcase his love of House music that has inspired many of his
own productions. It's rare that Ben plays venues this size and rarer still
to get a chance to hear him play this type of set. Do not miss this lesson!

Paul Mac steps up to the Electric City turntables for this first time for
his take on the classic house & acid sounds of the UK and USA. Paul has been
one of the most consistent UK producers for over ten years now with a string
of killer records released on labels such as his own C-Side & Stimulus
imprints and for others such as Fragmented, Theory, Ongaku, Phont Music,
Primate, Intec, Pure Plastic and Ingoma. The past couple of years have seen
Paul's profile raise dramatically through a series of high-profile releases,
tours of South America, Japan and Europe and his residency at the Split &
Retro-Vert Parties in London. We're very much looking forward to having Paul
come to play this set as not only is he a top producer he can cut it up like
a Samurai on the decks - bonzai!

Completing the line-up is Tony Anderson from Serenity Recordings in London.
Tony is a longtime spinner of deep tribal and house flavoured grooves in
Lahndahn Town and this will be his first time to spin in Dublin. Tony
recently set up Serenity as an outlet to release his own music and that of
Mark Broom, Envoy, Ben Sims and others and has three releases to date. Tony
will be kicking things off at the earlier than usual time of 10.30. Safe!

Get down & get your tickets or, just like in the days of Shoom, you could be
    ocked out mate, innit?
