Ive been using that UC33e from Evolution. It's ok, but I've still to really get in about it. loads of knobs on it, though possibly not enough without getting fiddly. I've only just started getting my head round ableton, and warping and all, but now I'm starting to think the UC33 won't be enough in itself, but like I said I'm really just starting out with it. Taht said though, the UC33 does seem like a good wee bit of kit, even if it does look a wee bit tacky...

yea ive one of these too..... still gettin my head around it!!! but realised not so long ago that the pan knob on one of the channels wont work!!! and its only about 3 months old :cry:

Anyway, so whats the advantages of using one of those? Also, does it effect sound quality?

you're not real clear on MIDI eh?

knobtron, UC33, or any other controller just controls parameters in Live (or whatever app) that have MIDI controller assignments. it has nothing to do with the audio.

or, it changes the audio only inasmuchas whatever MIDI command you are sending is supposed to change the audio. which is the whole point.

the advantage is hands-on control of a lot of parameters that would otherwise have to be manipulated by the mouse and/or keyboard... not the best input devices, musically speaking.

Apex - The advantage is that you have direct and physical control of things that would otherwise need a lot of pissing about with a mouse.

Filters - Yeah its very solid. I reckon you could crack a brick with it and it would still work fine. The case is welded together and powder coated. The front panel and circuit board screws onto the case.

Knobtron uses the midibox 64 system and doubles as an analogue style sequencer too.
