STUDIO MIX or BEDROOM MIX

right then...

I was thinking of doing some CD covers & label's, but i hit a wall of ethics.

I was messing around and put "Studio Mix" on the CD cover, but i was thinking if this was right or not.
Im thinking that a studio should be realy good quality ie..
NO RED LINE'NESS.
100% PERFECT MIX EVERYTIME.
VARIOUS STYLES OF MIXING.
BEASTY TUNE SELECTION.

basiclay a studio mix should take good planing.
Would it be wrong to use software to get these perfect mixes? Because at the end of the day you want it to be realy pleasing to listen to & look at.

The CD cover i designed looked too good for the mix if you know what i meen.

So do you think it would be better with BEDROOM MIX on the CD insead of studio mix??
And would a bedroom mix be less appealing to "Joe Public" than a "Studio Mix"??

just put "Karl54 Mix" and leave it for the listener to decide may be another approach.

studio mix sounds alot more profesional tho.
i dunno its late and my brain its starting to fail me, because i cant seem to make any decisions..... think ill sleep on it.

i kinda already figured out that i realy nead to get a few more people together and sort a proper tight & fat mix out.
Just make a day of it fecking around getting our sht together, and record it and messing around with it on the PC.

i reacon i could probaly get a few people together. On the CD just put
"studio mix by Mr Blue & Mr Pink" joint effort bounce ideas off each other and stuff...........

hummmmmmmm, god i realy should go to bed. got work tommorw :(

yeah ive never understood why a stidio mix was different...

i mean if i wanted i could record a set mix by mix having praticed n nailed them - then paste it all together using what i have in my bedroom. So is my bedroom a studio?

either way i always try n mix in one go - only bother using software if i **** up like 45mins in and cant be arsed to start again. hehe :)

i put studio mix on a cd i released last year cause i thought it sound like it actually had my control over the cd and mixed it in my studio.

but you're right... perhaps it does sound like you used software. but so what if you did? if i ever put out a cd i always use programs like soundforge just to tidy up the sound quality. i don't think if you put 'studio mix' people would think you've cheated ie not used decks...

in fact it doesn't matter how you did it.. as long as you produce a banging cd to the best of your ability.. surely?

thats what i mean.
i just wanted peoples opinions. ie wether using software was cheating, but like you said,, if the CD bangin who cares what it was done on or with.

dont get me wrong guys - I would'nt say using software or a pc to make a mix was cheating ...(unless you tried to pass it off as a live demo)

in fact ive heard some amazing mixes that have been made on the pc, stuff that would just not be possible for one person to do live unless you had extra arms etc..

but as has been said above , the term studio mix does for me anyhows sounds like there is more to it than 2dex, mixer & cdr deck..... but it also does sound more proffesional !

Studio mix sounds far better than bedroom mix. I wouldn't put bedroom mix, just mix is fine. All studio mix means to me (and I have used the term) is not a live mix.

On my latest demo ( which ill be dishing a few copys out on here shortly

) I recorded it strait onto my computer using cool edit pro 2.0. This way I could chop off bits at the end & begining to make it tidy. Also a good thing about cool edit is that you can maximise it, meaning that if the volumes are all over the place you can sort it. It also makes it sounds clean recording it straight onto a pc, you dont get loss transfering it across from md ect.
I think you could label it a studio recording if you have done more to it than record it strait onto cd from yer decks. But studio recording sounds better than bedroom mix, sounds way more professional

how about live mix set, its simple, i think bedroom mix sounds amaturish, and studio mix too professional, agreeing with others in saying it sounds like its been mixed using software.

LIVE MIX SET just sits in between, souding professional, but not too professional. go with it man!
