wouldn't there be a way to protect liveacts under a creative commons license? then you can, as they say "Upload and host your music for free at the Internet Archive via ccPublisher"
for instance, Attribution Non-commercial No Derivatives
(legal code)
"This license is the most restrictive of our six main licenses, allowing redistribution. This license is often called the "free advertising" license because it allows others to download your works and share them with others as long as they mention you and link back to you, but they can't change them in any way or use them commercially.
or the Music Sharing License
About the Creative Commons Music Sharing License
Note: You must own or be authorized to license both the composition, (c), and the sound recording, (p), of the song to mark it under the Music Sharing License. The Music Sharing License uses the identical terms as the Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivativeWorks license.

now it's just an idea - i'm not good with juggling these copyright issues, but in the Live Music Archive for instance i have come across recordings of live performances from bands like GSYBE! and Explosions in the Sky to name but a few. many netlabels also use CC licensing (and free hosting) as well.
ok now i'll just shut it and wait for the number 22 to pop up![]()
