What are important specs to look for on studio monitors?

I cant afford much right now, but would like to know for the future.
Those sony headphones look pretty good, but i'd have to hear em to tell...

As for monitors you need to bear in mind their frequency response (the lower the better for dance music).

Read some reviews from real users, this always helps loads. Looking at statistics all day will fry your brain, and the sites that sell em to you never put the bad bits about em in their adverts...
