haha...yeah sure, if you care to listen and promise to stay civil...

i think you are right about people blatantly self-promoting .

on the other hand, there are people (you for one, me for another) who write about specific music, artists, or styles because that's what they are into. some people are more specific about it than others. if someone talks about how they love, for example, swedish-style techno, and they happen to make it (because they love it), i don't think that necessarily means they are promoting themselves. but it easily could. i'm really not sure where mark and steve should draw that line, though i know it would bother me if someone came on the board and constantly posted about how great he/she was or how everyone should buy his/her record.

as for why you posted this thread...do you have any specific examples to share?
