Default VST's and Midi in Logic 7 Express

Whilst clicking the "insert" button in Logic, I got an option saying "refx "which is obviously what I was after as I wanted to get Vanguard out of it.

I clicked on it, and it opened the synth fine.

As it wasnt assigned to a Midi Channel, no sound could be made.

This is my first time using soft synths, and I was wondering how do you get it to a Midi Channel so ya can hear the sounds?

    Thanks for your time
