EVOLUTION X-SESSION

Hey would this be proper for doing a live PA with Ableton??? I'm just looking for a good option that isn't too expensive really.

Also looked at this one called "TRIGGER FINGER"

ANYBODY KNOW IF THESE WILL BE GOOD????

plenty of folks using the X-session. its worth it fo' sure.

cant comment bout that other one tho.

Cool, the X-session is only $119 vs $200 so I didn't knwo if there was a big differance.

The Finger trigger has trigger pads similar to that of an MPC. That is about the only differance I can see. Both come with Ableton SX as well. Although I already have a working version of the software.

I have a Trigger Finger you skeez.

And I think it's the bomb dig... I may supplement it with a UC33 if I find that 4 faders aren't enough.. but for now this thing rocks... You can make different presets for different functionality and quickly change between then with two button pushes.

so which do you think would be better??? That is my main question...I can also go for the UC 33 if that would be my best option. I just don't want to purchase one and then find anothdr would be more suited for what I wish to do.

well that things looks pretty darn cool for sure. However I'd like to see the other in action for comparison I guess. I really only need it as a trigger device for loops and FX.

I would think both can do the same thing....

I think for now I'll just buy the X-session and if the need arrises I will pruchase a differant one. I'm just too anxious to get Ableton really going. I want to start doing a PA instead of DJ'ing.

If I were you I'd get a UC33 instead of an X-Session...
You will benefit from the faders... whereas on the X-Session you are giving the faders up for a single crossfader... which, yes you can use in Live... but are you really going to crossfade with it?

i have the uc-33e, brad and it works a charme on ableton live, as i have been trying on just that two days ago.

here's the differences:

Differences between the UC33 and UC33e

The master volume fader is now F9, not F33. Note – The presets in the UC33e's ROM have been corrected to allow for this change. Therefore your overlays are still valid!
There is a different function panel to cater for the extra functions. You can download a template of the UC33e's function panel here. This template is actual size, and will fit over the function buttons of your UC33. Make sure you do not have the 'Fit to page' option ticked when printing.
You will see the value the controller is sending out is displayed on the LCD as you turn it.
Your controller is now supported by Enigma. Enigma is free to all registered M-Audio users. Please go to the Enigma download page to register your UC33 and download your free Enigma application.
Explanation of the extra features

Controller Mute – This enables you to re-position a controller on the UC33e without sending out any MIDI signals. This is useful if you want to calibrate a controller to the position of a virtual dial on software. You can use the LCD display on the UC33e to move the controller to a suitable position to avoid a parameter jump. Controller Mute is engaged by pressing the buttons. To disengage, either press controller Mute again, or press one of the assignable buttons (which are unaffected by the MUTE function).

Memory Dump – This allows you to send a Sys Ex message that describes the contents of your memory to your sequencer. To re-program the memory of the UC33e, play the Sys Ex message back to the MIDI input of your UC33e. The Enigma software application can be used to program the memory of the UC33e using software.

Device ID – may be required if you ever want to use more than one Evolution device at the same time. The device ID is used to specify which device the memory dump is intended for. The default setting is 127 which means a memory dump will be recognized by all compatible Evolution devices. We recommend you keep the device ID at 127.
