a bit basic maybe but how does one go about defining which programs run straight from start up? things like Yahoo etc, i presume there is an option in windows to edit this?

start menu -> run -> type 'msconfig' -> select startup tab . should give a list of everything that starts up, then search google to see what they all are and which need to stay.
