Default Laptop spec for Final Scratch 1.5

What's the cheapest lowest spec laptop that I can get away with for using FS 1.5?
    The web says:
"PC Minimum: Intel Pentium III 500 MHz, 128 MB RAM, 200 MB free space on the hard disk, USB Port, Windows XP
Recommended: Intel Pentium III processor, 700 MHz clock rate or higher, 256 MB RAM, USB Port, Windows XP"

But you know that these published miminum specs are always rubbish.

    Cheers

I wouldn't go below what they recommend dude - you're likely to have massive stability issues.

you probably wont find much price difference between a laptop with a 700Mhz chip in it and a 1ghz

Yeah - if you haven't shelled out yet, you might like to look at Serato Scratch.

Christ, what you gonna do with only one hand?

Quick question for ya if ya don't mind - would you expect any problems from using a 2.4GHz athlon with FS?

nope none at all. i run mine on a 2.4 pentium 4 with 256 ddr ram

the thing uve gotta be careful with is the harddrive.

if ur harddrive spins at less than 5600 rpm then it will stutter!!!!!

    no i wouldnt expect problems

Fs1 is usb fs2 is firewire.

the usb protocol only allows 12mbs per second, enough for two stereo audio wav tracks. your laptop wont have any problems, provided there arent any conflicts or other system problems.

having said that it is a bit of a roulette wheel with laptops, made especially because you can change a MOBO in one for a different one.
