    MASSIVE difference.

Schranz is a totally different sound to hard techno imo, so of course there's gonna be differences in the way you produce it.

Schranze is generally defined by having a very pumping, hard and distorted, compressed sound.
I have no idea what hard techno is any more. As stuff that gets called hard techno these days varies.
    Solitary by nature.
    Isolation is the gift.
Does anyone have courage to stand apart any more?

hard techno to me is hard driving, pumping techno music. perfect for either a club or the home. well produced, thought about hard music.

schranz is distorted, agressive music for a large speaker system. it makes me dance my ass off when i'm out but after a few hours it turns into hard house.

That`s a hell of a better description than I could try to scrape up.

few hours (or minutes:) of schranz hurt my ears... hard techno does never,, and schranz is nothing more than freetek,,gabba techno,,, imho..

to be constructive i would say,, schranz is just lot of compresion, distortion and anything what totally destroy the sound and what makes ´my ears bleeding..

like saying 'hard' techno ? or 'deep' techno ? or 'fried' eggs ? or 'smoked' ham ?

and who cares what the definition is ? too much time is spent on semantics & analisys... so boring to read the same ideas over & over & over & over (repeat til zzzzzzzz)

yea schranz is just a german word just he used to describe the dark deep style he was making.

to me its all hard techno "schranz" doesnt exist, all these sub genres that keep popping up and people start hating are just pointless.

Shranz sounds like hard house without hoovers under heavy distortion/compression to me. Give or take the odd high pass filter. I'm not a big fan of it. it tends to scare all the cute girls away.

and one of the most big differences between hard techno and schranz is the BPM.

You can have a hard techno track of 125 / 130 BPM, but not for schranz.
