I want my bassline to duck under the kick...how do I do this without assigning the channel fader to a fader on my midi controller and manually ducking it myself?

sidechaining a compressor (do a search for it on this forum, there's plenty been written here)...
or draw a cut in the volume on the bassline where the kick is.
