I would be interested in other people's thoughts on this...
What is the future for English Hard Trance Dj's? Has anyone noticed that today's club dj demands are towards popular producers? Don't get me wrong... I'm not against seeing some of my favorite producers spinning but it does seem to take something away from next generation of up coming Dj's.
For example, when I speak to people in Dance Academy they want to see people like Tiesto, Picotto, Armen Van Buren etc.. and it saddens me that they do not look towards what our own Dj pool has to offer. At Dance Academy, Mark Eg and M-Zone are the only true Hard Trance dj's that are popular... where is the future Dj once Mark Eg & M-Zone call it a day? (which I bloody hope you don't! The current english Dj's that Academy get are mainly hard house bandwagon jumpers... who are popular to the crowed and been around for a while.
Just looks to me as if there is a gap in the Dj world between fringe guest spots or local club residencies to the big names in industry, and I'm curious if the influx of foreign producers in to the Dj market is causing this? Helter Skelter & Dreamscapes did a lot of Dj's in the past but there force isn't as strong so I guess the catapult needed to be recognised for the music you love is not as big.
I'm just going to keep plugging away where I can, with the music style I love. If people like that in me and wish to see me then I guess I'm communicating well as a Dj. I am seeing so much talent out there at the moment in people who LOVE the music and can read what clubbers want so well... and they play for nothing on scraps of 3 records here and there back to back with a million other people who are in the same boat. Am I being cynical? Perhaps... but just think there's a lot people such as Botus Flemming, Richard Wright, Simon Pitt and Matt Marshall who could achieve great things with a bit of faith behind em. Maybe it's early days... have to wait and see.
Hey... that's my pennies worth. It's just a perspective I was thinking about, any thoughts?
