    Default bass overpowering track

just done a mixdown of one of my tunes ive been workin on and when i played it back on my stereo the bass just over powers the track but on the monitors it sounds perfect so now what im thinking of doing is gettin some cheap stereo that i can connect to my mixing desk so i can cross reference 2 find a balance would this be a good idea? would this problem have been caused by the accoustics of the room ? and if so how would i go about sorting out the room on the cheap

too much bass is the problem... the reason you might not have noticed it in your room is because bass travels in long waves that dip and peak, if your ears/position is in the dip, you won't hear/feel all there is. find a good spot, learn it and try again...
