    Why was Johnnyspeed banned?
Other people have way more abusive than Johnnyspeed in discussions here and they didn't get booted, why didn't he just get a warning? He was out of order sure, but Glenn kept it going, no-one backed down and then Johnnyspeed gets booted.

Who booted him then? Whoever did has been completely rash.

As far as I know, Johnny hasn`t been banned.
I gave him a message to stop it on here and that`s it.

I'm going call it a day. I tried to give it a break for a few months and start afresh but I guess BOA isn't for me anymore. The few people that know me personally on this board know I'm mostly a twat in real life, too and being a wonked-up vinyl whore is no excuse for trolling - especially people way more talented than I am.

When is a ripped loop koher? Seriously, I want to know. There have been no shortage of "techno" tracks that have ripped loops from all different genres. Why, in some circumstances is it not cool? I've heard no shortage of techno tracks that have ripped loops, and not even altered them, that people considered slamming. What is it that makes it a bad thing? Is it merely when the loop is ripped from another techno track? Because, under that logic, I'd say there's no shortage of "techno" producers that owe Public Enemy, and numerous other hip-hop producers, a serious amount of royalties and spologies.

    Well you have a point
I think there needs to be a line drawn somewhere.
    I`m not sure where.
I did have a really good article from a media journal my mate wrote about creative sampling.
I must dig it up and get it linked.

See, here's how I fall on it. I know for a fact that I've ripped samples from just about anything. For the energy of the track, sometimes I've altered them and sometimes I've left them completely untouched. It just seems that, when it comes to criticism, from other producers or DJs especially, there really is no telling when someone will accuse of being a straight rip-off or a "creative" sampler. Fortunately, I've been lucky enough to not have been accused of stealing from other people. But, in my own mind, and as far as laws are concerned, I'm well aware of the fact that what I have done is, for all intensive purposes, "theft." The degree to which the techno community has made this an issue as of late has been truly perplexing as I have seen no clear cut lines drawn anywhere.

samplings not a bad thing i dont mind sampling at all, there would be many struggling track makers sometimes without that little low running sample in the background, hell ive even sampled airlock doors from movies for claps, so sampling in techno really has been a progression even for those who dont like to admit it. For most its a powerfull tool "if done right" that aint done right..........

the thread was how not to rip a loop........not the ethics & morals beind sampling.
