DJ HELLRAISER
PHARMACY'S PRETTY LITTLE HATE MACHINE
Pharmacy's very own Arch Dandy of Dada began his Dj career at the tender age of 16 in late 1994 at the infamous weekly hardcore night "Thunderdome", along side The Bezerker. After playing the underground warehouse party circuit for some time Hellraiser started his own show on a then fledgling Kiss90 FM. This weekly acid/hardcore odyssey made Hellraiser an instant hit with Melbourne partygoers and earned him a residency at the successful weekly night "Escape" (Later to become known as Bass Station).
After headlining a number of underground parties in Adelaide, Sydney and New Zealand and playing alongside hardcore legends such as Nightraver and the Dyewitness, Hellraiser returned to Melbourne as a rotating-resident of a new weekly night called XSIVE, where he was selected to nationally launch The Prodigy's then new single, "Smack My Bitch Up".
After some time off from music Hellraiser returned from semi-retirement to headline the newly emerging Pharmacy parties. However, much like the man himself the Hellraiser sound is truly an enigma; boundless and indefinable. Seamlessly combining the aggressive aesthetics of alternative rock with the power of acid and the pure symphony of trance, Hellraiser is as unpredictable as he is talented and has been known to work anything from house and electro through to metal and alternative into his sets > as long as it is dark, hard and dirty. Pushing his secret blend of herbs and spices harder than most his own brand of hard trance, hard dance, techno and acid quickly grew him into one of Australia's most in demand DJs and spread his message of darkness across at some of the country's most notorious clubs, events and festivals including Pharmacy, 2Tribes, Transmission, Plastic, Hard Kandy, Bass Station, Advent*Jah, Science Fiction and Slinky to name but a few.
Striking a somewhat ominous figure behind the decks, Hellraiser is infamous for spreading his message of darkness through his wild on stage antics and performances inspired by the likes of rock gods Marilyn Manson and Tool. Adorned in his pin stripe suit, German military jacket, spiked collars, and white contact lens the 'pretty little hate machine' has secured a very special place with the Pharmacy crew and has in turn supported international legends such as Yoji Biomehanika, Dj Scot Project, Lab4, D.A.V.E The Drummer, Cosmic Gate, Marco V and Chris Liebing. Hellraiser even had the somewhat dubious honor of being dragged of the decks to the tune of Aphex Twin's 'Come To Daddy' as Police shut down an illegal Pharmacy warehouse party early last year
The antichrist superstar's profile has descended further down the spiral winning the hearts and minds of Australian clubbers across the nation. His dark celebrity has been cemented through his two chart topping 'Pharmacy' mix CDs released through Ministry Of Sound Australia. The first of which 'Pharmacy: Darker, Harder, Dirtier' was released in 2002 alongside the original acid nightmare, A*S*Y*S, while this year's release alongside Dj Scot Project and Derb entitled 'Pharmacy: We Are The Ruffest' launched things to a whole new level and was dually voted as Melbourne's #1 (Top3 nationally) 'hard' DJ on the definitive InTheMix annual poll.
After many years as the top dog (a nasty junk yard dog at that!), Hellraiser has recently started taking the Pharmacy brand of harder, darker, dirtier beats to the world with his own sensationally twisted productions and international releases. Under the moniker Ad Nauseam Hellraiser and production partner Ben Sanders are signed with Germany's berdruck Records and recently debuted their Rob Zombie inspired 'House of 1000 Corpses' to rave reviews and record sales. This surly acid stormer has warped the minds of many a listener with its belting 303s, lashings of horror samples, seizure inducing basslines and an eerie circus sample for all who loved clowns It tastes like scary!
More recently Hellraiser has also signed to the Tracid Traxxx dynasty becoming the very first non German artist to land a deal with the acid trance magnates! Teaming up with one of the most menacing German producers of our time, Warmduscher (10 Kliene Bass Drums, Hardcore Will Never Die), they produced the sterling hard double A side release Devil Fish/The Outer Limits which has unquestionably changed the face of the German hard trance / acid sound.
Not only has Hellraiser supported and toured with everybody that's anybody in the world of hard music, but he has even played back to back battle sets with international heroes including the Organ Donors, Kai Tracid, Derb, A*S*Y*S and Nick Lunn of Technopunk fame..
