A Mixture of writer's block and insomnia spawned about 28 hip-hop tracks over the past year of which the first few were started as hardcore techno. I've actually been having a lot more fun playing around with hip-hop over the past year on so many different fronts. News sounds to play with, new people to work with and, to a degree, more freedom because I'm not comparing it to stuff that I've done before. So, while I could have had "writer's block," it really looks like I was just trying to write the wrong music at the time. It's dificult to figure out when that's the case quite often and can be bad in that it's almost like you've started to resemble you're programming. Easy to get stuck and lost in that when it happens. So, it's weird, whereas before I'd do one hip-hop/breaks track a year at best, with the rest being hardcore, I've done a complete reversal. I'm just gonna let it ride because I'm still having "block" with hardcore and, while I'd like to be doing more than 3-4 tracks like that in a year,Originally Posted by djshiva
