See what you think... here's a review of mine for a web site.

    South West Clubbing Scene 2002

Clubbing in the South West has had a roller coaster of a year this year. It has on the up side seen some of the most talented overseas producers hit the decks such as Scott Project, Flutlict, The Crow, DuMonde, Trance Generators to name a few. They have all become instant hits in the UK and have proven to be very good crowed pullers and it seems this is the way the industry is going at the moment.

The downside to the clubbing scene is that there has been a few clubs that have been forced to shut down. Late last year saw the shock closure of the Monastery and sadly the same has happened to The Country Club in Dorset mid way through this year. Both these clubs were pioneers in the use of overseas talent and it is shame that they have had to come to an end. Dance Academy is one of the few clubs that has remained strong and is looking to be only getting stronger as it combines local talent with the best in the industry to provide some extremely memorable nights week in week out.

The Underground Clubbing world has been publicised a lot this year through the internet and for a change you can find clubbers really giving the DJ’s a hard time in keeping ahead in the music scene. I don’t think this is causing any problems, just giving people the opportunity to listen to their favourite tunes outside the clubbing environment and it drives the DJ to keep his ear to the ground for the newer sounds.

2003 is looking promising if you’re after the mini-Godskitchen style big events knocking on big clubs doors, but if you’re a part of the underground following then I think it’s going to be up to the smaller nights around the South West to keep the scene fresh and alive. Either way I hope you all find a way to enjoy yourselves with the music you love. Have a good Christmas and New Years!
