I second that!. Everything Studio Electronics is class!! My SE-1x is untouchable. I'm looking to pick up an ATC to compliment it. (If I don't get a Sunsyn first). The SE-1 and ATC are similar yet each have their own characteristic. The SE-1 is deep buttery love while the ATC has all those filters. Both recommended.

yeah, we've got an SE-1 (original not the x) and it was the top dog in the studio, but whilst it does have three oscillators and a digital display for showing patch names and the like the ATC-1 kicks its butt in terms of flexibility of sound, it tears, bleeps, growls and squeeks and makes the SE-1 just sound flappy in comparison!

as they say, your milage may vary but it does it for me...

Not been in the game so long so can't comment on many synths as I have used very few. The best of the freeware ones I have used so far has to be "crystal" it's a great little number with a huge amount of control. I have used it fairly sucessfully for a couple of basslines etc check it out!!

Anybody tried the Audio Realism Bass Line Pro one? It's not like the 303 emulator but this thing sure can come up with great sounds :)

hardware wise I love my Dark Energy. awesome for pulse width sounds etc. 100% analogue for 350 quid. look it up on youtube if you're interested there's plenty of demos.
    Dark Energy

software wise the audiorealism albpro is my favourite. they basically took their 303 and added another osicallator, additional wave types and an lfo. plus it Reason-like wire routing and a step sequencer.
