no, DO go out with a bad topless house dj!
sounds like a laugh to me.
anyway it's always about how you play it
the crowd ain't gonna really know what you're up to half the time but that's why you're the dj and they arent.
having said that i've seen great djs who play all styles and can't mix rip up a dancefloor as good as any techno dj it's really about having cool taste in music and being able to share that in an accesible way.
there's much more to playing records than mixing tecnique.

    lol

I bet they got less trouble finding bookings than most of us :?

anyways, I was gonna say somethin about them playlists:

I don´t give em out. Yeah you can stone me for it, but ya wanna know why? It ain´t really about not wanting other people to know what you´re playing or being secretive, but back when I did give out playlists, I had people buy the records and except for one or two differenct vinyls, copy the whole ****ing mix. And then on a forum accused me of copying their playlist.

Live and learn, so now I don´t give em out anymore.

I don't work in a record store, but wish I could get paid for the time I spend in them. Personally, I like to share good things with others. However, I can't help but feel a little protective of the records I play. Why? Because I can spend 2-3 hours a day, 2-4 days in a week, going through every record store downtown, listening to every possible techno influenced record; picking up both labels I know of, and even labels I don't.
Sometimes, I grab gold. A record that is pure mint (imo) and I buy it and put in the bag to be played. Now, when I play that mint record, "sometimes" other djs start asking "what's that track?," and "what label is it on." Maybe I should think, no big deal "here it is." And most often I do. But I can't help but think, "wait a moment, are you investing 10hrs out of your week listening for your records too, or, what???" Sometimes djs ask me where I shop? I think they think I go to some store that they don't go to and thats why I got records they don't have. Maybe I do, cause there is a total of six record stores downtown that sell techno, and I go to all of 'em.
I guess I feel that I invest alot of "time" into the records I'm playing, and that by scouting my labels, another dj is free riding off my hard work.

Honestly, that it bothers me, bothers me. I really wish I didn't give a fcuk.
