Midi controller question: installation problem

hey guys,


currently have installed M-Audio Radium 49 into cubase as my main midi controller.

Now im not sure if this is supposed to happen, but everytime i accidentally unplug the USB cable from the controller to the back of my computer, the next time i switch the computer on, i basically have to REINSTALL the drivers again because cubase does not recognize i have a midi controller installed.

Does this mean the USB cable can never come off the computer?
