Toronto sucks ass for techno, no one wants to give it a chance, and when there are techno parties no one goes to support them.
    Rather sad isnt it?
Pauze have you ever tried giving Montreal a chance? Your right when you say Toronto truly sucks for Techno.....maybe back in the day guys like Kenny Glasgow and Mario J were making good efforts in putting Toronto on the techno map but it just didnt pan out. Seriously, try MONTREAL. It is one of the most happening cities in North America in terms of partying and has LOADS of weekly techno parties. The scene is well established there too, with guys like Mateo Murphy releasing incredible tracks..

dunno, just my 2 cents. Hope it helps!

    cheers
wrong lol, going to spain, see ya there. montreal.. no. frank. dead.

Picotto again! i truely believe that no matter where u run and hide, you cant escape him. He's always there. I reckon he will replace Sex as the most searched word on the internet soon.

He may well b a nice bloke, doesnt stop him being a total and complete sell out does it. If he really liked techno from the beginning then he has sold his morals completely down the bank by releasing some of the shite he has done. If i was him id feel nothing but complete shame for my actions, regardless of the Mercedes sitting outside!

as for Ben Sims, on the few occassions ive met/emailed him ive found him to b a very down to earth and friendly bloke, he rocked Voodoo@ The Masque last time i saw him and i had a wikid discussion with him about techno via email

I quite like the idea of building myself a wee studio over time. But this will have to be from cash earned from the through the week job as any gigs i get are done for the pleasure of playing out. But it would be quite a buzz to think one day i could quit my job and live off the cash i earned through music. 8)

    Default !!!!!!!

Before I go on, let me be totaly clear: I'm not faluting anyone of you guys for your decisons to go abroad whatsoever..... I can feel the frustrattion. BELIEVE ME I CAN. :x

    But I dunno....

I think it would be EXTREMLEY satisfying to help build/rebuild a techno scene here (in Canada) simply because it's a challenge and a huge reclimation project.....

I'm not the type to wanna leap off a sinking ship even tho sometimes outta frustration I swear out loud "I've fukkin had it with this goddamn city!!!!". (actually, mind u-- the good ship TORONTO TECHO is at the fukkin bottom of the ocean long ago)

But still.... All the success & luck in the world go out to u guys to peruse your dreams abroad. Hope u succeed!!!!!

However on the flipside of this issue, I just relate this entire situation to an althete in Pro Sports who leaves a lesser team he was with for years to join a powerhouse team in search of a Championship Title. (like all the free agents who go to the DETROIT REDWINGS, NEW YORK YANKEES, or MAN U)

Isn't it *MUCH* less gratifying to join something already built & established? Isn't that the easy way out? Isn't that almost too easy?

    Just a thought.

Don't get your panties in a knot. ;)

I'm really not that bothered to be honest... can't say I really dig the guys music, but what's so morally wrong? Got more important things to worry about than Piccoto's supposed forays into "Techno"........

3 a year, candidates must come with 4 references from those 'in da club' already, and they must be able to guess the sex of a squirrel using only the pitch of it's call from 40 yards.

Additionally, PROPER techno lovers are only allowed to buy records from accredited techno producers, anyone breaking this rule is officially stricken from existance.

No, you must keep to the techno section and may only purchase full price new releases - the record shop representatives are agents of the techno management, your actions will be noted by them. Anything else is sacraligious, is NOT TECHNO, and will seriously affect the possibility of future acceptance into the techno brotherhood.

i think u lot know wot i mean

im speaking from my own personal experiences here, but i find that techno fans are the hardest to please of all. There is alot of so called purism in techno and yeah sometimes imo it is about being accepted with certain artists. Im talking about the likes of Picotto and Fergie who started out playing and creating hard house and trance and are known WORLD WIDE for this, and are now ditching that and suddenly turning to techno. Alot of techno fans/clubbers really dont like this. All i meant is that its these people who wont accept the likes of Picotto and Fergie as true techno artists who they can look up to and draw inspiration from.

I don't think they really care about being accepted as "Techno" people, I mean does that really mean anything anyway? Peoples perception of what techno is and isn't is so broad and different that to your average person who listens to radio probably thinks that what techno is (Unfortunatly)... what's in a name anyway? I'm jumping ship from techno anyway, before it becomes too commercial and dies, I'm starting my own Genre with it's own rules.. it's gonna be called 3 step death skiffle....and no-one's allowed to be part of it unless I say so...
