an mc 303 is just a load of samples

if you want cheap hardware , try a freebass 303 clone (pretty cheap).

Soundwise, the MC-303 really offers you jack. It's basically a sampler that can't have sounds added to it. For 303 sounds, go with any software suite. The only good use for the MC-303 I found is for sequencing in a live environment. Any sounds can be found on the net if you look around. In fact, in the new version of Sonar, there is a softsynth made by Roland that seems to have the same sounds as the MC-303.
A person belonging to one or more Order is just as likely to carry a flag of the counter-establishment as the flag of the establishment, just as long as it is a flag. --P.D.
i still use it in my livesets...but thro distortion always...you'l never get a 303 clone...but it makes ya sound different to every other acid producer if you wang it thro the right effect5s
i always thout the sequencer onit sounded abit funny like when dropping in other parts. seems ta make a stumbley noise then kick in. sounded the same on 2 different mc303 that ive heard
