I think it's possible to acheive quite a deep meditative state whilst listening to techno, especially if you're dancing as well, i suppose if you do it often enough it's starts to really become part of your brains way of thinking about things?!

There's a good section in a book called Ecstacy Reconsidered which talks about the spiritual aspect of the drug and to some extent the rave scene: makes quite interesting reading jon

The hard beats push your body as well as your mind, engaging it to go beyond. This is a challenge not many can handle, but for those that can it creates a most desirious transcendental state. For many, the word techno evokes memories of stepping beyond our normal realm into an experience unlike any other. Some might venture to call it religous.

With that in mind it is no small wonder that when you say the word techno to those who have been there, they're eyes light up with glee. and they engage in all sorts of activities that call to the purest of techno memories.

This is true for most forms of electronic dance music, but I think with techno, its edgy nature pushes you in a way none of the other genres do. The song structures and sonic textures provide a "challenge" that many are not up for, but if you are, no other music quite pushes in that way. Those that seek those sorts of challenges are enthralled by techno for this reason.

So that's why I think saying the word Techno to any head evokes the effect that it does.

    fuk yea well in man.
