What kind of effect are you after? Gates just cut the sound when it gets quiet, you can do that more easily on a kick drum by just playing it for less time or by cutting the sample short in an editor.

yeah no need to use an effect. just open soundforge and cut 1/2 of it out. dunno why you'd need this though???

well a famous hardcore producer i know told me to gate a kick ..then he started mentioning reverb and like gate the verb maybe..got confused....another acid techno friend showed me to take the kick and put a bass stab on he last half of the kick witha soem predelay to give it that chug..any other ideas? :devilish: thanks for previous replies too guys
