he's a ****ing wicked producer full stop!

but his work is too scot project now, he's ragged his sound and needs to make some changes, im criticising in a constructive way, because i wont continuew to buy his work if he keeps to his formula, it worked well a few years back but its ragged now!

And yet with tunes like "Rock" wich i must say i really like, people complain because its different and not what you expect from Scot Project.

imo I think hard trance has peaked a little while ago now, and its going to be very hard to get a new sound that will apeal to all hardtrance listeners.

Maybe we'll see a bit more of a range in styles within the boundrys of hardtrance.

Personally I'd like to see a lot more techno bassed tunes with synthy riffs...

I have a negative attitude towards Scot Project because he has chosen to take the commercial path and sold himself to the commercial clubs. Whilst doing so, all his focus on producing seems to have been lost and the result is lazy and poor productions. On top of that, the crowd he nows play to are the ones he seems to aim his productions at now (what on earth is that b-side to Visions all about?).

He really isn't that good a dj but he is an extremely talented producer, and he probably could churn out many more masterpieces if he toned down the dj'ing for a bit.

So because hes become famous and is mannaging to make a living out of DJing and Producing thats bad?

I think people get to worked up about the whole difference between Underground/Comercial Scene.

I think the only real Underground is @ Free Partys... i mean hardtrance nights at Clubs with Huge sound systems, amzing lighting effects and lazers... is that really Underground?

mate i think its because he set himself such a high standard...

arome - hands up, city 2 city and R,S. Were all very similer... lazy tunes imo. Production was still class, but just the same idea in the tracks.

Visions is a tune imo... and deffo a step in which i think he will show everybody how it is done again, as really i dont think many peeps have the talent he has.

Imo it doesnt.... hands up is cheesier. i like both. but visions is better, not as cheesy, better production, builds the euphoria much better.

No, that's not what I mean but I can see how I got misconstrued. Every producer has a chance to make a go of it when they get a big tune. Offers flood in from all the clubs that want to exploit their success, who also don't care for the music i.e Tidy, Godskitchen, etc. It's easy to see that companies like that are in it for the money first and the music second. Somebody who is in it strictly for the music would see through these offers, like Uberdruck did. I'm not jealous or bitter of Scot's 'success', believe me.

I've told this story before, but i'll tell it again. Scot played one of his first sets in this country at a local club called The Candy Store. A small capacity club at the best, but there was an ok turnout. I had the chance to talk with him before he played his set, and he was a genuinely nice person who seemed to not care about the size of the crowd. An awesome night, believe me, his set was really good, and he even stayed on after drinking with us.

After that occasion, he got taken in by the big name clubs, and played lots of the commercial clubs. Still ok, because this was the time he was churning out Ding a Ling and Hands Up. Then he returned to the Candy Store to play another set. Same size crowd near enough, but he was not happy. He had changed, seeming only to care about how many people were there, forever maoning. His set was awful, 'cause he seemed not to care.

In Germany at the time, D (or S as it is now known) was rejected as a single because Overdose thought it not good enough. His productions were going downhill because he had become so taken in with impressing the Gatecrasher/Tidy/Godskitchen crowd (who don't care for him anyway). This was his wake-up call in my opinion. He should have concentrated on his production, as this was what got him his fame anyhow, I don't think he ever would have found fame as just a DJ.

He didn't, and while you may beg to differ, his production hasn't improved since in my opinion. Is he too far down commercial street now to care? Who knows...

Sorry to disagree with something in my first post, but, I disagree :)

I have a had a couple of good chats with him and believe me,
he doesn't just see $ signs, he told me he genuinly finds producing VERY hard,

as a producer myself, I know how hard it is to create new sounds/structures/ideas, the only way really is to innovate on someone elses ideas...

After all, every idea is inspired from somewhere.

Plus you have to take in to account, many people 'copy' his tricks which in turn, makes them less surprising or effective.

There's only so many things you can do with a 4/4 kick, but he managed to take it to a new level,
just look at 'O', the triplet kicks and the tripled bass was completely new.

As is his new trick in Visions where he carries the drop on for another bar after the break.

A producer of his caliber deserves a touch more respect, he is a legend.

The guy's one hell of a J.D drinker too!!!

    WERE ARE YOU M8?

Sorry man. Yeah all i can say is when I did an interview with him for Wax, he seemed a totally friendly guy - really into his music and someone who obviously works very bloody hard.

I just feel that he was one of hard trance's biggest innovators and as such, you expect him to keep on breaking ground. i'm afraid i don't think he has recently. many of his productions are so amazingly produced but the sequences are too similar much of the time. you know a scot project tune a mile off, which is great, but i need to be surprised and excited when hearing a new record and scot project doesn't surprise and excite me the way he used to.

that doesn't mean you should write him off though. i check out everything he does and always give it chance. but by the 2nd minute it's like i've heard the whole tune already.
