I don't even know how to go about them, what should I do...I mean what sorta synth do you use and how are they structured?
I know there are some proper bods on here who can help...

Yeah I'm having trouble getting the right amount of sub to start with... Maxxbass is great for giving it an extra woof, but I still can't get the proper underlying sound I want :?

synth + syne wave + down octave or two + a little glide (if yer synth has it) and a little crazy bass line (not too crazy or you'll overpower the kick).

Everyone should own an SH101/MC202 for bass lines - It makes things so much easier - Don't need to worry about digital processing to make up for lack of bass etc...

Money spent on analogue synths is money in the bank too remember!
I funded half of my studio from money I made holding onto old synths - Made £700 on a 303 (still regret selling it though!), and about £500 on an MS20 and Jupiter... I was an idiot for selling them though cos now I want to write some acid tunes

You should try Korg electribe A. Korg and TB-303 are our bassline synths.

going back to programming, one tip i can give ya is to try copying your hi hat, percussion or whatever MIDI onto your bassline track, change some of the notes till it sounds funky and maybe swap some of the notes around to play around the beats...play about with this one and see if it helps!

There's the old 'use two bass drums, one on the fours, the other making a funky rhythm' trick.

I used to use Rebirth and make a bassline w/ the 303 and then record a sample of it, then pitch it up or down, whatever. It usually works.
