Default help !! my desk is dead :(

    Hello people,

I have a problem, my desk is dead.

    this is my desk

I have spoken to Soundcraft who have suggested that the PSU is faulty, I took it to an engineer that discovered no fault at all. Soundcraft told me that to service my desk would cost about £300.00 and would involve me having to pay for a courier to them and back.

    What should I do?

Should I pay the money or buy a new desk?

If I buy a new desk, what should I buy? I have not kept upto date with what is available - should I get an analogue desk/digital/control surface?

My other set up is based on :

    M-audio - Delta 1010
    Akai - S2000
    Korg - prophecy
    Novation - Drumstation
    Behringer - composer pro
    Behringer - virtulizer
    Alesis - Microverb 4

any input would be appreciated :)

well if you go sans mixer and have all your hardware route into your sequencer via a multi-in card you will have a lot more automation potential, but you give up a bit of warmth and touchy feely. it might be worth it to fix the mixer even if you do decide to start mixing in software, as you can use it as an external warmifying effect.

i'd get a new desk, for £400-500 you can get a second hand mackie 1604 or for a bit more get a 24/8
