Default Oh my god Reaktor 1.5 is a processor hog!

just installed 1.5 on a P4 2.6 motherboard, 1 gig of ram (Windows XP).

Am i the only one experiencing audio stutters with only ONE instance of Reaktor open? I have nothing else opened in cubase except for that and i STILL get stutters even after numerous different buffer settings.

You guys think adding another gig of ram is going to help at all?
I see some serious sonic potential in this program and im hitting myself for not buying it earlier, but the cpu hoggage is really owning me at the moment....

    cheers

I run a 2.1ghz G5 with 1.5gb ram, and reaktor 5.1 doesnt peg my CPU up past 39%. My iBook G4 1.33ghz with 512mb ram doesnt get pushed past 66%.

It really depends on your CPU, its cache, and its frontside bus.

ram is suitable if you're doing a lot of work with samples and raw audio and such.

When I work with reaktor, I usually bounce my results down to audio, then work with it there. Reaktor hogs waaaaay too much CPU to be practical to use more than a couple instances of.

I appologize for ending that last sentence in a preposition.

try to buy the processor with the fastest frontside bus as you can afford.

Ah, but you can re-program the components in Reaktor Core, or whatever it's called.
Speed it up no end - there's probably loads of redundancy in there.

Reaktor 5 looks like the realness, it has to be said.

Reaktor is the ultimate tool, nothing matches it and I use it loads! Dont be shy with using it as an FX module

Got 4 gigs worth of ensembles tho, its getting a bit daunting

    Are you insane!!!

Never really had that many problems, R4 was very stable on my machine. I havnt had any problems with R5

Make sure you keep upto date with the new revisions as they release software with bugs. It does get sorted out in the end tho a lot of the time
