Been playing around with fruityloops. Thinking about trying to make some old skool sounding hard trance. Just wondered if anyone knows what synths producers used to use around 1996-97. Trying to recreate the old EDM sound!! ;)

For a start youll need some 303s to get the acid synths and basslines. Rebirth should sort that out.

Try gettin hold of atmosphere if ya can. Its a bit of a monster though, comes on 6 or 7 cds, can't quite remember.
Its amazing for pads and strings and generally mad sh1t.
The Novation soft synth is pretty good too. Quite similar sounding to the outboard kit which is popular wth the trance heads
