ALAN Smith has expressed his gratitude for the swift and largely sympathetic reaction from everyone at Anfield after he suffered a season-ending injury.
Agent Alex Black said: "He was a bit delirious as he was coming off but he was able to recognise that a lot of the Liverpool fans were giving him a good round of applause. He just wants to say thank you to everybody for that."

was gonna post this be 4. a lot of the fans didnt realise how serious the situation was at the time an prob wouldnt off cheered and the majority did applaud him off the field the only thing im sorry about is that it wasnt neville in smiths place. CUNT!
