I feel we have all mentioned this before somwhere along the lines....
If you go way back through the pages posted on this board, you will see genuine concern over what could, but now has happened

From the moment, Mixmag wrote an article on this genre of music, and i heard Judge Jules play Hardventure, and now Lisa Pin up/Lashes has now started playing this out, i feel this is beginning of the end for Hardstyle enthusiasts, that have tried hard to keep it underground

Combined with cheesy vocals, that in my eyes should be left to the more melodic trance, it has all gone tits up!! Vocals can and do work, but its how you use them, is what makes it work, throwing vocals into any old track even if its a one liner just does'nt always do it for me, it just makes the track too Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeesyyyyyyyyyy

Hardstyle still remains for the time being but for how long to keep people in the underground listening to it, this may seem like a very negative post, .

But if you look at all the recent posts in this part of the forum, it all seems very flat, compared to 6months ago, when hardstyle was at he forefront of underground music. Has it ran out of ideas

I have listened to various hardstyle releases, and the only ones that really do interest me are the Masterz of Hardtyle releases, absolutlely solid and hard, no cheesy vocals and bordering on the verge of being Hardcore this is how i prefer it..

Think you could be right in parts mate, things have gone flat but they may pick up. I look at hardstyle as having two aspects ie the more commercial side of things and the more underground hardstyle...which is like hardcore and gabba (the way I like it.)

If these HH dj's play cheesy hardstyle then don't got to these nights. Hardhouse is cheesy anyhow so you would expect them to play the more uplifting end of things. The fact that they throw in loadsa vocals show that they can't layer a set imo.

Go to nights that play the more underground form of hardstyle like Cypher, NEO, North, Diz etc

Can't a genere be big enough to encompass a range of sounds?

I'm off to q-dance this Sat so I'm gonna see a whole new side of Hardstyle.

I think that as soon as the commercial fat cats get wind of this, which they probably alreadly have, and the fact that more "commercialised" Dj's are now playing it, i think you might find that all the current labels that are producing Hardstyle might tend to sway to the more lighter side of things.

The more popular the music within industry, the more they will sell, if:
they are channeling the music to a wider range of followers, these followers might not like, your brain ovulations, or Masterz of hardstyle.
If these guys could see a good market, or basically $$$$, i think they would'nt hesitate to sell out and go for the more cheesier sound?

And i think a large proportion of these labels would do exactly the same

I tink it's already happend in Holland over a year ago or more. That's where the biggest market is with the smaller nights being 4000 capacity and the bigger events being up to 30,000 people. There's nothing the size of that in the UK so why would producers of the style change what they are doing completely to cater for the UK which is a small market compared to amsterdam.

Why would they want to risk loosing their dutch market just to gain a hold in the UK?

I recon they will produce two styles ie commercial and underground.

To be honest tobe, i dont think i would like that, even to be part of commercialism is bollox to me.. It just would not be the same, i could'nt bring myself to play hardstyle if i was going to be classed as commercial/underground music..

I think it should be kept to itself.. Am sure when you go to holland, you will see a completely different clubbin culture to over here... What am trying to say is, that over here you get knobheads who are at a night for its name and not for music, which i have witnessesd many a time at various clubs.

I turned down creamfields, on the principle that its commercial, and the music does'nt interest me, to be part of anything like that, takes away its sentimental value.. Thus hardstyle being made 1/2 commercial, it just would'nt work.

My mates when to the last Defcon festival and said it was the most unreal thing ever.

Pisses all over UK Festivals because the Dutch are so welcoming and there is no Sound Restrictions Etc!.

I'm going ovder to the next one, I hope you have a wicked time my friend!.

I agree mate alot of people do go to nights for the wrong reasons but so did I to start with ie I went there to get off my head and to loose myself for 6 hours.....I didn't care what the music was. But that changed and music has become a essential part of my life. There are knob heads at both underground and commercial nights...you can't judge a person on there style of music things aren't that clear cut. Don't get me wrong I hate some corporate clubs like Godskitchen (spit) they are just in it for the money and pay people to tell them what is in fashion. They handed out free VIP passes in my queue at NEO on my first night and or that I will never forgive them. They are poisonous to the scene and are concerned about one thing $$$$$$$$.

With hardstyle becoming more commercial it would bring more money to the artists and allow new artists to produce music and enter the scene. It might even allow underground nights who have been playing hardstyle for the last two years (Cypher) to actually make some money. :lol:

Too true mate...but nothing is free in life. Money buys freedom.

That's why dance music is so good as it's a release from the day to day grind.

By supporting the underground whether it nights, producers, dj's etc we are growing the scene.
