I think he will only be there any long length of time if you start winning the big honours i.e the champions league & premiership. Not the carling cup or to a lesser extent the FA cup. The older he gets the less need he will have to be close to home/family etc. Lets be honest he must of known he'd win more by goin to chelsea or abroad but wanted to stay local, he's said as much himself.

i rate Gerrard over Lampard...

although i think that Lampard can do a job in the centre of the park if Gerrard was to be absent of the England first team for whatever reason (non of this 'lets accomodate both players' bulls**t - it's Gerrard everytime if he's fit and we have seen that both players don't seem to play well alongside eachother), but when Rooney isn't in the team there's an element missing that can't be replaced so easily...

I rate Gerrard over Lampard but not for England.


Lampard and Carrick would be a miles better combination for England in the centre but how can you leave Gerrard out? the only option i can see is to drop Beckham and play Gerrard on the right but that wont happen.

Or do what Chelsea do and play one up front, Rooney with someone sitting in front of the defence a la Makele so they can both get forward and have more freedom... But Sven won't drop Owen either I suppose! Liverpool could do that with Hamann holding and Gerrard and Alonso allowed to get forward more too...
