Default The Outboard Machines What Can't Be Reproduced As Software

    ROLAND TB-303 BASSLINE

No software can copy that beast 100%, theres lots of emulations but nothings sounds like the original.

Do you know any other outboard machines what software cant reproduce?

    TB-303 = Audio Realism Bassline

I've used both the original and the audio realism plugin and to be honest, I prefer the Audio Realism version cus its easier to work with and sounds just as good. If I run it through the sherman it sounds even better :)

But yeah, I hear ya about not being able to copy something 100%. It's not real circuits for one, and the interface isn't directly "hands on"...

...I also prefer the FM-7 over the DX-7, same reasons as why I prefer the Audio Realism bassline. I can do A LOT MORE with it due to its ease of use and being able to control with a knob box. The DX-7 panel is a kunt.

For harsh distortion and noisy filtering they're the best, but don't think about it if you're after a real smooth filter. They're awesome for percussion and have heaps of modulation possibilities (I run an output on my electribe to trigger the fm modulation).

The filtering has a very different character compared to a moog or ms10 filter...

Only drawbacks are they're mono, so you need to use two if you want to work with stereo material (or you have to do some studio trickery). Or you can buy the stereo version thats coming out... that thing is a monster:

universal audio is going to model the eq portion of the neve 1073 channel strip. the announcement has peeps quite excited.

i love my analog, but i have a lot more respect for software than i used to. no, a generic software compressor is never going to sound like an analog one, but some of the modeled stuff is really, really close.

I dont think ive come across any software that is capable of reproducing this beast 100%, especially realtime control of the kick. If you havent got one the only alternative is to use samples.

My friend built one of these and the 909 sound was spot on! It didn't have an onboard sequencer, so it wasn't a 100% copy. Great for the authentic sounds if you use a software sequencer.

I`m not really concerned with emulating analog any more.
I learned all I know about in music working in a 100% analog professional studio as an apprentice for years, and those were great days.
these days I`m far more concerned with making professional sounding productions with sounds that entertain and interest me.
Why emulate a 909? or a whatever, just make stuff that sounds good, this is techno after all and the whole process of even tryingto emulate a sound seems wrong to me.

The problem I see with digital stuff these days, is that a lot of people using it have never heard analog stuff, or used any, so they don`t know how to capture that analog sound, as their ears have simply never experienced it.
It`s easy to do if you know how, the software is that good.
    Same with compression and EQ.

I hate when people chase kit like a holy grail, as if x piece of kit will suddenly make them sound pro or whatever.
A lot of time, and experience, and experimentation will wield more results than gadgetry.

    erm

    rant over
    Solitary by nature.
    Isolation is the gift.
Does anyone have courage to stand apart any more?
