Are you asking if classic tracks still kick? I'd said, emphatically, yes.

    Plastikman,"Marbles"
    Teste, "the Wipe"
    Joey Beltram, "Energy Flash"

    Nothing is epic like that.

Agreed. I've never really liked One night in NYC . People always harp on about the vocal, but if you ignore that for a minute, the track itself isn't up to much. (A much better Horrorist track, imo, is "Flesh is the fever").

yeah lads what i meant was do classics of techno stand the test of time and wanted few people to post few favourite of theirs.

i definitely think the horrorist was trying to bring a pop angle to techno song.
i personally laughed and enjoyed some of his tunes from that album.

anyways i've listed jeff mills the bells, dj roland knight of the jaguar, one night in nyc as it is considered one of the tunes from that era.

you can post joey baltram energy flash, or aphex twin windowlicker.

i definitely think aphex twin's early to mid work stands the test of time.

still sounds beautifully crafted to this day.

    by whom exactly?

seriously, the tune's gash man, when was it released? '96?

if you want a real classic from that era try:

    YouTube - Surgeon - Magneze

Oddly, it is normally one of the tracks which non-Techno heads quote at you as being a "classic". It's happened a few times at house parties etc when I've been chatting to someone and I say I listen to Techno. If they know anything about it at all, they always seem to mention Dave Clarke, Plastikman, maybe Green Velvet and tracks like "One night in NYC." I dunno if these are the types of thing which NME etc might mention from time to time, and hence folks know them. One night in NYC seems to be fairly known among non-Techno fans, but you hardly ever hear of Techno fans talking about it (if anything, they prefer One night in Hackney!)

I totaly agree, "flesh is the fever" is much better... about one night in new york, I enjoy much more the cover by Henry and Chris "one night in hackney"

My contribution to this 'classic techno tracks that still rock" thread : Gamble 202 : Spicy Bred of Charity, especialy part II : YouTube - Gamble 202 - Spicy Bred Of Charity II.

...and a bit of free-party sound (96) : Desert Planet by Curley and Spaans : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Il6o_WnvAU (If you're not patient, skip to 4'49, the track realy "begins" here)

You have a very narrow vision of techno mate.

Green Velvet, Dave Clarke, Plastikman are not Techno?

I mention that song because it is a popular classic.

I really enjoyed the horrorist LP. Knew it was more of a pop end of techno but good nonetheless.

Will sell it for 500 squids easy for you.

one night in NYC was good fun first few times I heard it. But then it got annoying. Can't hear that vocal more than a few times, basically a novelty track even it did have an evil bassline.

Uhh, of course Dave Clarke etc are Techno. I used them as examples of more commonly known Techno artists so it stands to reason that I am labelling them as Techno, ha ha!

As far as The Horrorist goes, I find him hit and miss, but he has done some great tracks. Have you listened to "Flesh is the Fever" yet? What did you think?

Flesh is the fever is better IMO. One night in NYC was a 'shock' style tune with did inspire quite a few other tunes but I would say it was a really good tune. It has become dated, good techno tunes are usually ageless.

What is the era we're talking about here? 1990 to 2000? Thats a big chunk of time. Whoever said magneze is on the money for me.

Heres some that I'd say were classic but you can still play today:

YouTube - Jeff Mills (Millsart) - Step to enchantment (Stringent)

YouTube - Umek - Gatex [HQ]

YouTube - House of God - DHS

    YouTube - Speedy J - Pannik

    yeah i have.

some of his lyrics are very juvenile but like i said they were angling for the pop crowd.

a lot of people like adam x post horrorist work.

when i first heard this, it blew my mind and changed my life. i don't know any words that can accurately describe just how good this one is. probably my favorite techno track of all time.
