Default PC Audio Question - PLEASE HELP

    right, doing some Abelton sets...

my PC has a 30gig 5400rpm drive for OS & active projects (in this case, the loops needed for the set)

ive shifted as much data (pix, samples, RAR files etc) onto my second drive (120gig 7200rpm) as possible to keep the OS disc down to a minimum.

will disconnectin the second drive help at all with stability ?

my pc aint that hot at all, and with only a 5400rpm drive & 256ram, i need to squeeze every inch outta her..

anyone any helpful hints & tips ?

also, by my logic (i know lol) i was thinking the less active components, the better, so i was considering pulling the second drive out for the gigs.

are there any major CPU suckers i can disable as well ? obviously, MSN & IE & all that wont be needed in a club.

yeah, disable msn and all them, disable firewalls and anti virus too.

as for disabling the second hard drive, that wont make any difference at all, so i'd leave it as it is, the only speed increase you'd see from disabling that hard drive is booting up the pc would be quicker

you can buy a new good pc for 700 euros or less

remove programs helps but... i dont know what processor do you have in you pc and 256mb for audio programs...

you can buy 512mb ram for 39 euros and remove all antivirus and firewall (this is a killer for pc memory)

Does your machine go on the internet at all? You didnt say.

If it doesnt then disable all the background processes to do with telnet IP stuff etc. MSN needs to be stopped as well.

Make sure you are running at 16bit on your colours on the graphics card too. Remove any other cards from PCI slots that you dont need.
