Please voice your opinions on Slinky, this was started somewhere else but I can't find it at the moment.

I tend to agree sort of,but it can only be a good thing if Mark is going to play there as he can let them hear some proper trance instead of half the pish they say is trance

I don't think that they deserve to hear proper trance because the people who run it don't give a @#%$ about our scene and they normal contribute to its ruin i.e. Look what happened to hard house when DJs suck as Lisa Lashes sold out to them, Slinky tends to consist of pissed up locals who wouldn't give a toss if the DJ was playing S Club 7 or Andreas Kraemer. Trust me I know I'm from Bournmouth where they have it every Friday at the Opera House.

Mark at the end of the day m8 its a major platform to get your sound heard but a t the same time you dont want to be seen as selling out

(which i know and you know you wont ever do).

As long as as you are still playing the style everyone loves you for then i reckon you should go for it and show these people what hardstyle is all about

i think we all know that we know your heart lies in the underground scene, and that slinky are fortunate enough to have you grace them at there club..

But i think with the likes of tidytrash and nuklepoop. startin to realease hard trance, i wouldnt want them jumpin on the harder style of things after hearing what the underground sound is all about..

If you do decide to play there, the only downsides to it could be

    1. Crasher kids invading the underground scene

    2. people going for the name of the club, not the music. These type of people that stand there, with a can of stella, nodding the head, thinkin they look well ard, and cool.

    The upsides..

    1. Pay packet!!! Bling Bling

    2. Some serious sore eadz the next day...

    3. Watchin some heads roll.

I think maybe mark you should aim towards a big festival next year, Glasto, or V2002...

totally. i've said before, all the people i know that go NEVER normally go clubbing except Chart Classics nights and the likes.I have absolutely no friggin' idea why they all decide to go to Slinky when it rolls in to town.... spose its a big well known name... it would be the same if Ministry etc. brought their stinkin' show along......

i agree with techfunk, pack your box full of the hardest, filthiest, head-fcuking techno and make their ears bleed. doubt they'd book you again but it would be pretty funny!

init and hopefully it would put them off techno for good, and they can all go back to their fluffy trance & hard house.

They wanted me for a date in Feb 2003 but I think because I already have something on for someone else there was a problem...

    So OK...

If you had the chance to break though into the more commercial scene - what would you do? I've had the opportunity quite a few times now and I've always dragged my heels. I'm quite happy where I am thank you very much.

If I was moderately famous and was given the oportunity to break through into the commercial scene i'd give them a two fingered salute followed by showing them my spread...

But that's just my opinion now because I'm not famous...

    ...yet!

Hi Mark - I'm Paul Scheeres and I play techno out mainly in Cardiff.

personally I would do the gig because -

a - you're not compromising your musical style at all - which lets face it for big commercial event like that is funny.

b - music is about education - somewhere amongst the drunken throng there will be some people who stand there and think what the f**K is this music and get turned on to underground sounds. So turn up and play with their minds!

I would go, and play the most evil, dirty, hard music I owened that I loved and shoved it down there throats so hard they will be screaming for me to never return from the underground world while I make a pretty penny.

I call it... screwing over commercialism.

    Hahahaha....

Trully up to you Mark, put your hand on your heart and go where it follows you.

I 100% agree with Trance addicts comments, and i seriously think playing at Slinky would be a bad move.

While we are on the subject of fluffy trance & hard house events, i was suprised to see your name on a Koolwaters flyer, naming him as the new monthly resident!!! I always assumed Koolwaters was a commercail hard house night, kinda like a mini-Slinky. Ive been to a couple of them (Taunton and Yeovil) and they were full of 18 year old drinkers & not much atmosphere, with sell-out DJ's like Lashes/Savage/Boy George etc. It doesnt really seem like the sort of night Mr E.G would be playing at!

I may be wrong though, and i am in no way slating Koolwaters, just voicing my opinion!

Anyway, f**k commercialism...its killing our music. Keep it underground!

    P.S, R.I.P Country Club!!!!!

    Default Slinky!?!

    Come on more more more!
Mark after seeing this what do you think :?:
You could go there and burst some eardrums but you might find that Slinky regulars like it and then we get a load of Cyber kids invading the scene and I think we've got enough as it is. Them or piss heads who decide its the latest fase and they're worse than the cyber kids.

But like evreyone's said i'm sure you'll make the right decision.
