    Default Sample library

    Right then.

Stop pretending you dont use samples and tell me what you keep in yours. ;)

Here is a list of mine.

    Dummachines Series.

All the major drum machines sampled and seperated into both instrument catagory and manufacturing catagory.

    Funky Junk

My comic trip round a junk yard with a hammer and a mic.

    REal instrument samples.

Childrens musical instruments sampled with my mic and my hand.

    Hits and Stabs

Lots of then, old skool and new skool

    Vengeance Club sounds Vol 1

    Vengeance Bass

    Vengeance House Vol 1

    Treated Desk feedback

    Ibanez Loops

(Loops i made run through an ibanez smash box dist unit)

    Ethereal Vocals

and many many more that o cant remember..

Samples.. how do you eat yours? I generally make a point of trimming my samples, taking away the ones i dont like... i know i know YOU NEVER NOW WHICH ONES YOULL USE... well sod it i got rid of em anyway, that way i know my sample library backwards and can abuse it more eficiently...

    Chris.

one thing i've learnt is to uninstall some, in the past i've had loads installed, and you can get caught up in auditioning every sample you have to try to find one you feel is right, this can really kill a session for me, so now i have them all on cd's, but only keep the ones i use regularly installed.

    Funky House Producer
    Roots of South America
    Synthetic Drums 2
TR909 and CR78 sample packs I've found on the web.

thats it. I only use samples kits for drums and percussion as I really like to create my own sounds for everything else.

    Nice one folks.

Anyone else care to share good practice when dealing with samples...

How about some editing tricks and tips.

In fact i'll start a seoerate thread for this.

Mines a mess at the moment...What I tend to keep in it though...

Drum hits - Loads and loads and loads of them.

Drum loops - bits of live drumming and a few really nice bits like some of the DSC stuff and the Chris Vrenna ones from CM. Also a few very basic 1 bar kicks and hats for chucking in when I'm creating synth patterns and can't be arsed loading a sampler.

Guitars - Lots, nicked from all over. And stuff I've played (or particularly my mate who's shit hot at making nice sounds on guitar but can't ****ing play in time.) cut into loops.

Multisamples - loads of basses 'cos I love putting these into acid and painting in note by note almost tracker stylee

    Few vocal snippets.

Loads of FX noises and drones and feedback from my ceaseless pissing about...
    Pure F*ckin' Noize Terror...

I've got about 25gig of assorted samples stored on my external hardrive. But all my good samples are already loaded into sample banks in my sampler
