Barebones are fine as long as they are using quality motherboards.
If you get a shitty branded motherboard, it doesn't matter how good the rest of your components are... the thing will be unstable as hell.

Stick with Asus, MSI, Gigabyte or Aopen, in that order. Intel branded ones are fine too if you are going the P4 route.
