yeah right. you sure know what you are on about.
Nothing wrong with whiteboy 16th hihat patterns & distorted 4/4 kick drums looping and looping forever and ever amen though?. ;)
and as for comparing dub with er techno -> describing them as brothers.. havent you ever heard of drum & bass or shock horror.. dubstep.
:paranoid: :paranoid:
Dub is brother to no one. Dub is the daddy.
Yeah, I`m not sure they are brothers per se.
Techno is very very very obvious beats.
Dub is more about space, and room.
Although some of the more steppin dub does work at half pace for techno, so it can be mixed in.
Problem is you get some dubby techno, but the rhythms are straight and flat, so it never really works.

Pole are about the closest thing to proper dub techno.
Although arguably they are really just a dub outfit using machines.
Techno is too big to be particularly similar to another style. There's too much variety within the genre.
Amok doesn't sound much like Alex Smoke. Mr Oizo isn't particularly reminiscent of Rowland the Bastard.
I remember the Megadogs at the Rocket, and the first couple of hours was nomally Dub and slow breaky stuff until the techno started.
Perfect start to a night for me, so i think they compliment each other handsomly
I bought loads of Dubstep at the weekend.
They've started a dubstep rack in two of the record shops in Notts.

Its so big on the bass and what is interesting is that the more ****** up the beats are, the more the crowd gets off on it!
I suppose the brotherlyness can be defined by the sense of innovation the two genres represent...
There is a Gap...
Check out the new Shitmat / Chevron / u-Ziq on Planet Mu.
Shitmat does Dubstep - who'da thunk it?
the idea actually repulses me. :(Originally Posted by TechMouse
Oh well, you can't please everyone.
No you can`t, but you can, with the right frequencies, make them all vomit and soil themselves simulataneously.
Which is always a good party trick.
