    Default overload....goes into overload!

    what a shame  ...

    >>> An Important Announcement from Overload Media <<<

As announced last month on www.overloadmedia.co.uk

Following four years of running Overload Media as a non-profit-making organisation dedicated to the global electronic music underground we have decided to implement the following changes to the Overload website. As from September 19th 2003 we will be cease to update and develop the site further, leaving the content accrued over the past four years as an online archive. This is due to two carefully considered factors: firstly the problems of financing such a large site without implementing a system of advertising (something we'd rather not do), and secondly the time constraints imposed by full-time work commitments for both persons who work on the site. The long and short of it is, that we feel it is no longer possible to devote the time and resources needed to fully realise the project online.

100% effort and dedication was put in to Overload when it was in print, but due to work commitments and other activities undertaken since the publication folded we haven't felt this to be the case for some time now. Despite continuing development and expansion of the website, we feel the turnaround of editorial content has been sporadic, whilst acknowledging that there are many more sites keeping a lot more on to it than us editorially. It's a shame, but we feel it's time to move on.

    The Overload Forum

The Overload forum has been a great source of information and a unique discussion tool since its inception in 2000. However, running a forum was not the drive behind the Overload Media project. Therefore, we hope you can understand that in archiving the rest of the site we cannot allow the forum to continue in its current incarnation. To leave the Overload forum as an appendage of the archived site will mean Overload Media remains an on-going concern to us - and one that will always reflect on the content of the site that has been built up over the past four years, be it for reasons positive or negative. Many relationships and alliances have been formed - and we're honoured to have been a part of that - but everything moves on and we now feel its time for us to do the same. As demonstrated through the activity within the club nights' section of the forum, there's a huge network of people getting off their arses and realising huge productivity. We hope members of the Overload online community will employ the ethos behind the project to further both their own plans and the scene in general - and we send out our apologies to all those who will miss using the service.

    Record Reviews

Over the next month we will be making every effort to clear some of the backlog of promotional material at Overload HQ and post reviews online - especially promotional items that have been specifically requested. If you've recently mailed packages to us, rest assured that we will be checking them out, but please, don't send us any more records/CDs for review directly to us. We are planning for members of our review team to still be able to upload reviews remotely if they feel they've acquired a release they feel really warrants coverage. If you are in touch with any of our reviewers, do feel free to contact them directly if you would like to send them a package, but please don't ask us to forward items on for you. We will post more details about this on the site shortly. The Overload Media PO Box address will cease to function as from the end of September 2003.

    Broadcasts:

As audio is a major bandwidth/server space issue, we will be taking the broadcasts section offline on September 19th 2003. If you would like to archive these sets, please download them over the coming weeks. Our thanks to everyone who supplied mixes for the site - including those we were unfortunately unable to upload due to space constraints.

    Links

We feel the links from Overload represent a first-rate web portal at present. We will be leaving the links section online with a view to future expansion.

Please understand this has been a really difficult decision to make. We would like to say a huge thanks to our friends and supporters over the years, not least our kind-hearted hosts Stayfree Internet, without whom this project would not have seen the light of day.

    Best wishes from Bristol.

Massive props to Ali and Woody and all the other contributors over the years. OL will be sadly missed, but the contribution they made to the scene won't be forgotten.

Good luck to the lads in whatever projects they move on to now.

    It was a top magazine.

Got all the copies stashed somewhere, used to read them each several times over...

As Billy said, lots of 'em use LittleD, but a lot also use No-Future.
