i use a office table, and its design really compliments the use of turntable & mixer.

want to know how much it cost me? a measly £16.99! brand new.

i think deck stands are seriously over priced, the manufacturer must be making at least 90% profit off each one they sell.

I made shelfs out of a bit of wood. Cost me... about £1.00 for the shelf brackets - plus I could have it at any height I wanted!

ive used a piece of kitchen side-board on shelf brackets b4,
nice and solid but it was to permenant.

so the next time i made a stand alone unit from 2x2 and some of the old
kitchen side-board, even jig-sawed a hole for the mixer to sit in,
but it looked ****in ugly, so i covered it with a throw, still didnt look any better, so that had to go !

next up i tryed 2 computer desks, and they were far to rickety and a bit on the low side too.

so what ever i do, it needs to be rock solid, and have the flxability to move when required.(cant stand the room looking the same for too long ) !

me and my handy dad built a whole unit out of wood that has my decks mixer cd player and pc with plenty room to spare.
Its about 2meters long with loads of shelves.

you better building your own and fixing it to a wall.

Now this is sweet.. it is totally adjustable (for different sizes of gear), and folds down to almost nothing to take with you for travelling :)

the real best thing for a dj stand is a long piece of wood facend to a wall.

thing about it, all the £200 deck stands are all made of metal and are very rigid and dont offer vesatility, just think if ya get a third deck, just make the wood bigger, you cant do shit with the stand.

    well thats my opinion.

    You can find it @ http://www.quiklok.com/ ..

It is kinda pricey, well off there site.. I am sure a local place might have it cheaper.. for example.. site is something like $500+ US , and i found it here in toronto for 5.99$CAD ..

    good luck!

I use this stuff from IKEA

    IVAN Shelving Link

Got 3 side units & 6 shelves at the minute. Currently holding amp, speakers, mixer 2 x 1210s CD player & about 1200 records. Think it cost £50 altogether, but I'm gonna add a smaller pair of shelves (they come in 2 lengths) when I get another CD player.

    Default deck stands

ive just had great fun reading how u lot have made deck stands.being a carpenter the process came very easy to me but i do agree the ones u buy r a RIP OFF! a few pieces of board (independent diy shops will even cut them to size) with a few lengths of 2x2 timber and cross pieces will do the job perfectly. i made a big ****off one with room for amp,cd player, tape deck, record storage and kitchen sink,i was so pleased i wanked for days as i saved lots of dosh.if anybody whants a simple easy diagrame (ill even wright sizes on it) on how to make one let me know.

PS. i think ive just had a good business idea-ill travel the country make stands for every ****er drink ya beer cain ya drugs shag ya birds sleep over etc. ill be able to sell me house and be minted!
